🏫 The Role of the School
Day-to-Day Support
Most families thrive with the support of universal services like schools. At Stanah, our staff are always available to listen, offer advice, and provide reassurance.
Focused Pastoral Support
When more targeted support is needed, we offer focused pastoral interventions and can involve external agencies where appropriate. Our team works closely with families to identify needs early and provide the right support at the right time.
👩🏫 Our Pastoral Team
- Mrs. Rachel Legge – Headteacher
- Mrs Rebecca Middleton – Deputy headteacher
- Mrs Tracy O’Neill – Family Support Worker
- Miss Vicki Holloway – Special Educational Needs Coordinator
You can speak to any member of our team by contacting the school office or approaching us at the school gates. We are always happy to help.

🧭 What is Early Help?
Early Help is about identifying and responding to emerging needs as soon as possible. It is not just for very young children or families in crisis—it is for any child or family who would benefit from extra support.
Early Help can:
- Prevent issues from escalating.
- Support families to build resilience.
- Improve outcomes for children and young people.
- Help families step down from statutory services.
We follow the principles of Lancashire’s Working Well with Children and Families guidance and use the Early Help Assessment and Family Radar tools to identify strengths and areas for support.
🧾 Early Help Assessment (EHA)
The Early Help Assessment is a collaborative process involving the family and professionals. It helps us understand the whole picture and create a plan that supports the child and family’s needs.
- It is voluntary and consent-based.
- It involves identifying strengths and challenges.
- It leads to a coordinated plan of support.
- It may involve a Team Around the Family (TAF) approach.
🤝 Our Commitment
At Stanah Primary School, we are committed to:
- Supporting the whole child—academically, emotionally, and socially.
- Working in partnership with families to build trust and resilience.
- Ensuring early intervention to prevent escalation.
- Promoting the values of respect, kindness, and perseverance in all we do.
